How my love of fashion started...and continues today!

Since I was little, I have always been obsessed with fashion. Even though I do not have a career in the industry, I love clothing and accessories and shoes. There is nothing more that I love about fashion than looking at fashion magazines and watching movies and tv shows that feature the best new looks.

I remember that the earliest movie I can remember seeing that had amazing clothing in it is the movie "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" with Christina Applegate. I absolutely was obsessed with her character and wanted to dress like her when I was a teenager. Looking back at the clothing now, I laugh at the over sized business suits and high waisted pants. But she was so cool to me back then.

It's no surprise that "Clueless" also have a pivotal influence in my love for fashion. I knew I wanted to shop at Contempo Casuals, and walk on Rodeo Drive like Cher. I loved wearing plaid skirts and baby doll dress with knee socks and maryjanes. Cher was an icon in the 90s.

Mary-Kate and Ashley were my favorite. During my middle school and high school years, I owned everyone of their straight to video movies on VHS. I looked to them to see what the trends for the next school year would be. They always seemed to look amazing, no matter what they wore. Even now in 2014, they are still amongst the most influential women in the fashion industry. I admire their business ethics and how they try to stay out of the limelight as much as they can.

Ten years ago, the movie "Mean Girls" came out in theaters. I was currently in a Lindsay Lohan obsession phase (I still kind of am). The fashion that the girls wore, though not practical for high school, was killer. For the time, there dressed like how I wanted to dress...though I never wore heels and mini skirts to class, nor did I only wear pink on Wednesdays.

Last, but certainly not least, would be the Spice Girls. I was one of the thousands of girls who worshiped the Spice Girls. I wanted to wear dress and platforms and Union Jack symbols on all of my clothing. And to this day, I can still sing all of the words to all of their songs.

Today, in the year 2014, I look to instagram and pinterest for inspiration for fashion. My fashion inspiration comes from "Pretty Little Liars". And even though I may not dress exactly like the girls on TV and movies, I still get that happy tingle when I see the amazing outfits each week.

Who are your fashion inspirations?

  1. The only one I can think of right now is Drew Barrynore but I think it is more I wanted to be her than dress like her although I did dress or was very influenced by her style all through my growing up :) even now
